The process to develop India’s forest certification system was launched on 16th March 2016 at the Ashok Hotel, New Delhi. The “International Conference on Forest Certification – Positioning India” which was co-hosted by NCCF and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC), the world’s leading forest certification system, and the ITC Ltd. The conference brought together government, business, and civil society stakeholders to discuss the status of forests in India and to learn from the international experts about the benefits of certification of forests and trees outside forests for the promotion of sustainable forestry.
